Forlì-Cesena, in the heart of Romagna
Cordial hospitality, irreverent irony and cultural energy: there’s no doubt you’ve arrived in the very heart of Romagna, in the Province of Forlì-Cesena.
Forlì enjoys an intense cultural activity all year round, as confirmed by the extemporary exhibitions periodically hosted in the San Domenico Museums and that each year amaze thousands of visitors. Not only, walking around the roads, visitors will be amazed by the town’s urban and architectural layout, which developed in the 1930s and that gave life to the rationalist ideal of those years.
Cesena is a small town nestled between the sea and the mountains, yet its cultural wealth is impressive and surprising; it is a real art city. Elegant and intimate, you can comfortably walk around the streets of the town centre and come across its first jewel: built in the middle of the 15th century, the Malatesta Library is the oldest in Italy and the only one to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Continuing, visitors can admire 14th-century Palazzo Albornoz and the Malatesta Fortress, one of the largest and best-preserved in Romagna. There’s more too; continue your visit to the town with the magnificent Cathedral of St John the Baptist and the wonderful Alessandro Bonci Municipal Theatre.
