Rimini
Rimini is the main destination on the Riviera of Romagna and is an internationally-renowned tourist resort. It stretches along the Adriatic coast for 15 km and is packed with hotels, nightclubs, bathing establishments and sports facilities: its beach is the most popular in Italy in terms of visitor numbers.
However, Rimini also has an important and interesting historical side, having been founded as a Roman colony in 268 BC.
A strategic communication hub between the north and south of Italy, Roman emperors erected many majestic monuments here, including the Arch of Augustus, Tiberius’ Bridge and the Amphitheatre, whilst in the Middle Ages, the magnificent Malatesta Temple was built under the aegis of the Malatesta family.
